Early morning light

Early morning light
The best end to a  night out at Hill end trying to do some astronomy photography, accidentally dropping my car keys beside my car and thinking I had locked myself out (you know how at times you do not think clearly when you panic), before coming back to Bathurst through Eglington when I saw the effect of the streetlights on the fog and loving the colour and lighting effect.

Nothing like despite the disappointment from the previous night coming home to the interesting light effects in the fog, getting home and thankfully I had nothing on that day, so I was able to rest then later edit the photos I had taken that night.

it was amazing to see the number of cars out on the road, this coming from growing up on a farm used to sparse traffic on the road at most hours.

Fixing my website

I decided to remove almost all of my sub headers As I felt they cluttered up the site and made it to daunting to add anything to the site.

Stock images update

I finally got over 25 mineral photos up on istock and the next goal is to get over 50 by the end of the Tafe year and be well on my way to 100 by the end of the year.

It has been a learning experience of going through editing and tidying up backgrounds and I hope you can see some improvements, I certainly will never again be using paper in the background to lighten the images.

my stock image portfolio at Istock can be viewed here.

I would greatly Appreciate it if you could take your time to view and leave comment on my blog what you think.

Ring drawing practice

As of the Ninth of February 2017 I have been practicing Jewelry making at Enmore tafe and I  thought it would be an idea to have my drawings up online. at the end of the year I will post a comparison of the work I did at the start of the year and the work I have done at the end of the year.

Mistakes

Nothing like looking over my stock photos and realizing all the patches needing fixing that I only now notice after they have been accepted. and it is amazing what you notice after submitting your work, even after going over it time and time again (just like this blog).

My Istock portfolio can be viewed here, I hope that anyone who downloads them are able to fix the borders, will have to do more reviews before posting photos to istock.

Still the joys of focus stacking.

I just don't know what to call this one, because I honestly could not come up with a name for the life of me.

Newnes coke ovens

Newnes coke ovens

After a night of painting with light out at Newnes I decided to spend a morning taking photos of the coke ovens.

sadly my tripods head is playing up so I had to take these photos hand held, I hope to get out there again soon when I have  sorted the tripod out.

Painting with light at Newnes

Painting with light.

Now that Tafe is on holidays I decided to spend Wednesday night, the first night of the fist term holiday, photographing the oil shale refinery ruins at Newnes after classes finished for the day.

I spent 15 minutes adding curves to lighten the background and darken the ruins of the coke ovens.

I hope to get back out to Newnes again soon.

I made the  decision to give this an arty farty name, because why not. (I will not mention that I am completely rubbish at naming my own work)

Bathurst 2016 New years eve party in the park fireworks

Bathurst 2016 New years eve party in the park fireworks

Since 2009 Bathurst city council have hosted a public new years eve party called party in the park, in Victoria park opposite Bathurst base hospital which culminates in a fireworks display at 9pm (AEDT).

Apart from the odd stranger getting in the way and the occasional badly framed photo, I did manage to get a few good photos of the fireworks from the night.

so the lesson from the 2016 was expect a few dodos to wander in and stand in front of the camera and stare blankly, but at the same time not get all strung up about it and keep on photographing or better still just move to a new spot and photograph from there.
