Hi everyone
so here it is, the end of certificate four photo imagery at orange Tafe for 2014 next Tuesday.
it has been a good year learning how to improve the quality of my photos, learn different genres, research different genres, make new friends and learn more about people i already knew.
so next year i will do the diploma level of photo imagery, but in the meanwhile i will apply to start selling stock images over the holidays, so hopefully next year i will have the funds to travel more, have better lens, get better light and have a idea of what i want to do with myself
so to sum up this year. i learned how to properly use Photoshop, portrait styles, different genres, Exhibitions can be a pain in the organising but when it comes to setting up is a breeze, how to meet and make new friends and there are some things about old friends that just drive you up the wall.

what i love doing part 2 Focus stacking, gems and photography
Hi everyone
been having a lot of fun focus stacking some minerals over the weekend. here are some of the results with focus stacking after editing them to remove dust and cat hairs off the reflector board. it is annoying how often I would clean the board only to discover that more fibre, hairs and dust settled after a while.
here are some of my latest work for Tafe.

Art's Back 2014
Hi everyone
I am looking forward to this Friday when the art's back exhibition is over for this year, It has been at times a bit challenging this year, Learning new genres, techniques in photography, Working with different groups to experience the challenges of having clients and going through a new set of unreliable fellow students either not attending or sadly leaving the course when there had been people wanting to attend, but were unable to enroll due to the course being initially filled.
The exhibition has been a combination the work of the class of the diploma in visual arts with my class, the diploma in photo imaging of 2014.
It was a pain getting this exhibition together, there were very little co-operation between the courses, we as a class were making the invitation for the exhibition. we had issues with agreeing on fonts for the invitation, we had trouble with one of their teachers during the making of the invitation. but in the end we got one finally agreed upon.
from the 27th and 28th of September and the 3rd to the 7th of November. we were setting up for the exhibition, it was a very surprising change from the conflict we were seemingly having during the making of the invitation. we got in, we helped out, we framed our images and hanging them up in b block of the march street tafe campus. and it was the best team work experience i had this year, it has been a pleasure working with the visual arts students on this exhibition.
On the 7th of November we had the opening night for the exhibition was amazing thanks to the efforts of the visual arts students and our teachers in finishing the final preparations for the opening night.
The opening night was a success, with quite a crowd attending, though sadly some of my fellow students were not able to attend the night due to other commitments. My parents were able to attend the opening night, they even got to meet some of their old friends from Orange, which was nice to see them again.
This week we have been holding fort, curating the exhibition till the 14th of November. and we have had quite a few people visiting, making the final weeks of our course feel like for most of the class coming up to a happy conclusion of the year.
so anyway if your in orange on the 13th and 14th of November, Art's back exhibition is on 10 am to 4 pm. i will be in on the Friday from 10 Am to 12 Pm.
here is the invitation we worked on. congratulations to Chloe Mackenzie and Jenny Davidson for their excellent work on the invitation.

Random Photo competition for Tafe
Hi everyone
today I will be having a small competition for my tafe assignment, the competition is Random photos from last week. (3rd to the ninth of November)
I got the Idea from last week after the final preparations for a arts exhibition at Orange tafe had been completed and I had over a hour to wait for it to finally open to the general public, so I went for a walk up to the bowling centre. on the way back I went via Newman park were I found a few oddities, which I having the time took photos of( of course they are all snap shots).
the most random thing I saw was these light poles sticking out amongst the trees which reminded me of C S Lewis's novel, the Lion, The Witch, And the Wardrobe.
Rules.
only one image per person.
Note This competition is bogus, as I had to do this for a tafe assignment. so I will not be awarding anything

what i love doing part one- Gems and my photography
Hi everyone
one of the things I like about photography is being able to combine my passions, for example I enjoy exploring, I combine that with landscape photography, I enjoy fossicking, again I combine it with my landscape photography.
one of my first hobbies as a teenager was collecting quartz specimens from around the Bathurst region, at first I would just accept any bit I could find flawed, fractured or just microscopic (and still do to a lesser extent).
over the years since I have learned a bit in keeping a minor collection of mineral specimens, much to my parents chagrin
and I will admit I have made incredibly stupid decisions when trading specimens and listening to bad advice when it came to my other hobby, Lapidary.
gradually I have improved on my Lapidary skills and my mineral collection has not suffered as one smokey quartz specimen for shooters hill quarry did ( I kick myself when ever I see it, specially when Warren Somerville of the Somerville collection fame said for a quartz specimen It is good)
I have a long way to go before I am able to say I am a professional mineral photographer. but I will get there eventually.
